Some people were baffled this year when I explained that I celebrate my birthday all month long. Why not? It's my special month.
The break-down goes like this. Special is the entire month of January. More special is my "birthday-week." Then we have the even more celebrated "birthday-eve" and then the actual birthday itself. Also very important is the "birthday weekend."
You think I'd be tired of celebrating. Every year my special day comes after weeks of special days. For instance, Christmas, December 25th, was a Friday this year.
The following Friday was New Year's Day and yes, the very next Friday was my birthday.
Boyfriends always complain.
Three weekends in a row of expectations; it's exhausting!

Actually I didn't get any complaints this year, just a request for next year to have my birthday in a different month.
That brings me to the celebration of the half birthday! It's always so cold in January to properly celebrate, so July is the perfect time for an evening out.
Actually, I had a fabulous birthday this year. The best ever. All week of it in London.
Actually, the reason I celebrate my birthday all month is deeply embedded in my psyche. Something else I can blame on my family! Growing up we celebrated the entire month of January because it seemed there were endless birthdays! The day after my birthday is my dad's birthday. One week later, is my grandmother's. This year her birthday fell on the Friday after my birthday- just to extend the party weekends.

Here she is celebrating this year. I really wish I could have been there, but my cousin sent me this cute picture so I wouldn't miss the fun.
But I'm not done with January. Two of my other grandparents had birthdays in January. As did my dad's sister and numerous other cousins and friends. I developed January party stamina over the years.
Too bad with February comes the hangover.
That's when I'm ready for some R&R somewhere warm.
