Lauren Collier is a full-time meteorologist for News 12 Connecticut.

Lauren Collier has been intrigued by the weather ever since she was a little girl vacationing in Mexico City when she found herself smack dab in the middle of a minor earthquake. "I was hooked, I just had to find out what made mother nature tick!"

But first, Lauren got sidetracked, after earning a Masters Degree in Broadcast Journalism from Boston University, she received an offer to anchor an early morning news show in Colorado. "I loved to ski, so away I went."

From there, Lauren's love of travel combined with her television career brought her to jobs anchoring, reporting and hosting shows in Iowa, Indiana, Connecticut, Long Island, New Jersey and New York. She has won numerous awards including a Folio, Telly, Aegis, Long Island Heart Association Media Award, honors from UPI, NJBA, NJSPJ, Iowa Associated Press, and Silver King Broadcasting.

In 1998, Lauren went back to school, to finally pursue her love of weather, earning her meteorology credentials from MSU. Lauren is a member of NWA and AMS and is preparing for her AMS seal.

Lauren is also an avid pet lover, you can catch her "Furry Friends Forecast" Saturday and Sunday evenings during her weathercast at 5:00 p.m., and "Pet Talk," her new talk show about all things pet-related every weekend, right here on News 12 Connecticut.
