My husband is a sports fan...atic!! My kids are well on their way too!! I, on the other hand...am a sports idiot. I've never been interested and never thought I would be.
I think my husband gave up on me a long time ago. But my boys are now HUGE Mets fans. And like all kids do...they ask questions...and questions...and more questions.
When they're young and uninformed...it's easy to...well...fake it! But now it's getting harder and harder to do that.
My older one gets up early and watches the entire game over again...reads the box score and knows who hit what and when. My little one can rattle off names and jersey numbers with the best of them.
We just took the kids to their second Mets game...last Thursday...they won..yeah! We got there early and watched Perez and Castro warming up...kids are in heaven being that close to real Mets. My little one waved to a bullpen catcher...who then tossed him a ball!! My husband, who's been going to games for 30+years, has never gotten a ball! And the kicker -- of course -- my son has no concept of how special that is -- all he wants to do is play with the baseball! My husband quickly took it away and is getting a display case.
Anyway, I was actually into the game. I think it's much more interesting to watch when you're there as opposed to watching on tv. It helped that we had great seats -- on the 3rd baseline -- section 122. What also helped was this guy with the orange wig carried on the entire game!
The game was close and my husband and older son seemed worried there for a bit...me too a little...then before I knew it...they won and the stadium went crazy! I have to admit -- it was exciting.
So while I don't ever see myself watching an entire game on tv...I do like watching the Mets up close and personal.
So don't tell my husband...but...I might actually be a little bit of a Mets fan!

LOL. Well, Shari - the secret is out. And you even used the names of players in your blog like a pro. Maybe you can start doing health stories about sports injuries.
