I've heard the saying "you learn something new everyday," but I feel like I learn more than one thing.
Ok... maybe I forget a bunch--that would be the silence you hear during Jeopardy -- and then the " oh-- I knew that" that comes after the contestant gets it right..
So I thought I would share with you what I "learned" today..
My stress is not causing my gray hair!
Turns out that life's pressure, and job stress or crazy family drama, really isn't causing you to get those white hairs!(I call them platinum locks... and try to pretend they're my new natural highlights!!)
The good news is I no longer have to feel guilty that I turned my dad's hair salt and pepper, but the bad news is that EXTREME STRESS CAN CAUSE YOU TO SHED MORE HAIR THAN NORMAL...
That's right--stress is making your hair fall out, so that's why you notice the gray hair. Talk about a non comforting finding from a professor at the University of Utah. So, for all of you out there who like to pluck out the gray hair when you see it--probably not the best idea you ever had, since it seems you're losing hair already.
Turns out our hair grows in white, or gray, when our bodies stop producing the color pigment "melanin." That means we have to blame genetics--not our jobs!
