So, ?4U .
And CMIIW.
Doesn't it seem like everyone is texting now?
But, DUR when NO1 was texting.
Okay, I'll stop. :)
What's funny is that 7 years ago, I got made fun of for typing messages with my thumb on my little cellphone keypad. It all started when I got back from a month in Rome and had been using my rented cell phone to text all my friends who live there. I had to learn fast, because at the time, cell phone minutes were outrageous and no one would answer their phones.
So now, I consider myself a "pro." In fact, I almost always prefer to send a quick message to a friend, and get a response back even quicker. I catch up in person. (fear not - I'm not anti-social)
But even "a pro" should not be texting while driving.
Yes, you can justify it, as several people told me today. "I only do it while I'm at a red light", or "I'm very careful, I do it quickly."
But, as much as I love the distraction of texting while sitting in traffic on the LIE, it shouldn't be done.
And pretty soon, it will be illegal everywhere.
Suffolk County's ban on Texting While Driving goes into effect September 21st.
Nassau County's legislature plans a vote on its bill in early October, and assuming the County Executive signs off on it, it will be law by the Holidays.
So, farewell, texting while driving.
And in the future, if you know someone is texting you while driving, feel free to send them this text.
ST&D.
Yes, that's "Stop Texting and Drive.".
It exists.
:)
And just in case you thought I was really fifteen years old and knew all these abbreviations. I don't.
I got them online: http://www.webopedia.com/quick_ref/textmessageabbreviations.asp
Ha Ha. LOL . Loved your blog, and thanks for the link. Maybe now I'll know what my teenage daughter is talking about.
And while you don't look 15, you also don't look a day over 21. :)
