Oh, baby! The real star of the News 12 Long Island morning team has arrived. And she's beautiful and blonde and little.
And here's her picture!!!!
No, I don't mean the one in the red shirt! I mean little Allison Rae! This is Elizabeth's baby! And she is perfect and she is precious. And Elizabeth is in love and the greatest Mommy.
Like all new Mommies, she's also one tired Mommy! Alli is a night bird. And a day bird, and a morning bird and an "any time she feels like partying" bird. I think she gets that part from her Mommy!
Alli is 2 weeks old today, and is beefing up already, after starting out at 5-pounds, 11 ounces.
Elizabeth was about to walk out the door to work that early October 10th morning when that other Mother, Mother Nature reminded her who was in charge. You can't say Elizabeth "called in sick." She called in, "Ummmm, I think I have to go to the hospital!"
Her News 12 family spent that whole morning waiting for "the call" from her husband Randy. But no call came. So late that afternoon, I stopped by the hospital, hoping to run into Elizabeth's parents in the waiting room. I wanted some "news!" One thing led to the other, and suddenly I was in the labor room with Elizabeth, Randy and Elizabeth's parents - the best cheering section a girl could want! She was so excited. She was sooo tired! She had done a full day's "labor" by then.
At 7:03, on the evening of October 10, 2008, Elizabeth and Randy's world changed forever. Little Allison Rae arrived in all her glory. That energy you see on the air here at News 12 is vintage Elizabeth. That's how she operates all the time... type TRIPLE-A. And so she called me from the delivery room - yes I said from the delivery room - at 7:03 PM and said, "She's here. She's a girl. She's beautiful!"
Right on all counts. I mean come on, how cute is this baby?
And Elizabeth's dad, Papa Paul, is a fabulous painter, and has given Alli a real island retreat for a nursery. Papa painted the palm tree and life guard to help Randy watch over his girls - and to watch over Alli if and when she slumbers.
And so what is my partner doing these days? The same thing she'll be doing the next 3 months. Kissing little Alli Rae hundreds of times a day. And counting her blessings. And now, shhhh. The baby is sleeping. And if Elizabeth is lucky, she's leaving the laundry for Randy to do later (which he does!) and she's catching a couple of zzzs herself. I'm so proud of you Mommy!
And Alli, welcome. I love you already. And you couldn't have picked better parents. (Now just let them get some sleep!)
CONGRATULATIONS. SHE IS ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL. ENJOY HER AND MAY GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU!!

Finally pictures of the baby. I caught Carol the Monday morning after Elizabeth had the baby. They showed pictures then but nothing since. I love the nursery. Congratulations to Elizabeth & Randy.
