She's here! And already one week old!
Wondering where our morning show anchor Elizabeth Hashagen is? Well, she's taking care of her beautiful new daughter! We are all so excited! Everyone here guessed that the baby was a boy, but I just knew it was a girl from the start! Or at least I hoped I'd have a reason to buy the little pink baby Uggs I've been eyeing! While in the womb, I referred to the baby as "Emmy". I thought Beth should name her Emmy after all of the emmy awards she has won, but she chose Allison Rae instead!
I have friends and family members who have beautiful babies that I love very much, but this is the first time that I've been with the mother-to-be (I was too young when my mother had my younger siblings to remember! ) almost every day of her pregnancy. It was an amazing experience. When I visited Elizabeth in the hospital last weekend, I just couldn't get over it. Just two days earlier Beth was explaining exactly where the baby's head and everything was in her belly ... and then poof... there I was staring at the little miracle that was in there! She was kicking away! I feel like I've been in health class for the past 9 months! I've learned so much about pregnancy and babies! We were constantly looking up all sorts of things... I have to be honest, some things grossed me out, but others simply amazed me.
I am so thrilled that Allison is here and healthy. I have to admit I am going to miss snack time with her Mommy and the constant entertainment of her kicking and making us all ooh and aah during the morning show! Elizabeth says she's " the happiest she's ever been in her life!" She also said to say hello to all of you!
I think little Ally is the cutest. If you have a baby or kid you think is the cutest, why not enter them in the Cutest Kid contest?
You have a chance to raise money for the March of Dimes of Long Island and win prizes for your child. Submit your kids photo to the website thecutekid.com. The entry fee is $25 and it will go to the March of Dimes. Have your friends and family vote for $1-- that goes to March of Dimes too. A lot of stores in our area are also donating prizes. The website was started by two young dads in Westbury and I hear it is super popular! The March of Dimes is such a great organization and helps so many families on Long Island. This is a fun way to help them and Long Island babies!
Hope you all have a great weekend. Don't forget to check out the Oyster Festival! Thanks so much for your kind emails and comments!

So when she heads back to the field, Elizabeth can stop awkwardly squeezing behind counters and jungle gyms? Congratulations! I'm just glad she had the baby before you guys had her carrying mattresses around the studio.
Oh, and the baby's cute, too. Though they do tend to all look sort of...Winston Churchilly when they're that young. So we're expecting updates, I hope.
Plus, how does a nutty early-morning anchor's schedule change with the addition of a baby who can't sleep through the night, I wonder.
