I'm with Geoffrey. They went from a 23% hike to a "mere" 8% hike, with a terrorist threat from a "credible source" in between that nobody else seemed to hear about except from the MTA itself.

Meanwhile, from Huntington, it already costs over eight bucks to get into Penn Station off-peak, or a quarter per mile (twice that, if you have the misfortune of buying a peak ticket on the train) for shoddy, apathetic service.

Why is it slower, less convenient, less reliable, and more expensive to use mass transit? And why can't they manage a simple budget? How hard could this possibly be?


I wonder if huge increase of 23% was proposed so that everyone seems pleased with "only" an 8% jump.

I think I know the answer.
