So here we are. Days before the Chad Pennington Armageddon. At this point, barring a massive turn of events, I'm resigned to the fact the Jets have blown it and will NOT make the playoffs.
BUT, that's not the point of this blog. Nor is it to debate who is better, Chad or Brett, whose arm is stronger, who looks better in Wrangler jeans, etc.
This blog is about one thing: The Ultimate Jets Nightmare.
Assuming the Patriots beat the Bills at 1pm, and by my calculations they should be up 27-3 by 1:25pm, then the situation presents itself as follows: If the Ravens beat the Jags at home at 4:15pm, the Jets are eliminated.
Of course, the Jets-Miami game starts at the same time, so, for a few torturous moments, the Jets will still be alive. But let's have some fun at the Jets' fans expense. Let's assume Baltimore is blowing out Jacksonville 20 to 3 in the 3rd quarter. The Jets playoff dreams are over. Now the question that begs to be asked, and the question my brother Chase and I have been debating for the last week, is "Who do you want to make the playoffs, the Patriots or the Dolphins?"
Yup, that's the one thing the Jets DO control. If the above scenario works itself out, then a Jets win over Chad and the Fins would give Bill Belicheat and the Patriots ANOTHER AFC East title. Without Tom Brady I might add.
BUT...a Jets loss--and all-american boy Chad Pennington will complete his comeback story and win the title--on the JETS HOME TURF!
Soooooo, which is it Jets fans? Which would be more painful? A win and see Belichick smile his way into a home playoff game? Or a loss, and watch Chad Pennington run off YOUR field with his surgically repaired victorious right arm raised in the air?
